Staff / Parent Trainings

Workshops and training designed to foster collaboration, encourage positive communication, and resolve conflicts effectively.

Informal Resolution Sessions

A problem-solving meeting between parents and the school, facilitated by a neutral third party. The resolution session would take place prior to the filing of due process. Additionally, this may be conducted through telephone calls from the facilitator to both the district and the parents.

Facilitated IEPs

Impartial facilitation of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process, provided when the district, school, or parents require assistance in reaching a mutual agreement.

Pre and Post-Filing Mediation

Mediation sessions may take place before or after filing for due process. The SELPA will facilitate these meetings prior to state-level legal proceedings.

The ADR services at Southwest SELPA offer individuals an opportunity to resolve disagreements in a safe, positive, and efficient manner. The three main characteristics of the program are:

  • Voluntary: Participation is entirely voluntary, ensuring that all parties are open to finding common ground and working through conflict.

  • Confidential: All ADR services are confidential, except for trainings, unless all parties agree otherwise.

  • Educational: Our service fosters a positive learning environment, allowing participants to ask questions without fear of judgment and to learn from their experiences.
